- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Master's Degree or PhD is considered an advantage.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer, Certified Functional Safety Engineer, TÜV Functional Safety Certification, NEBOSH PSM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Minimum 8-10 years of industrial experience, including at least 5 years in Process Safety, Risk Engineering, or a similar technical discipline within chemical manufacturing or other major hazard industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in ATEX and explosion safety is essential, including practical experience with combustible dust hazards, hazardous area classification, explosion protection systems and mitigation of ignition risks within manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex process safety programs and technical risk assessments.
- Demonstrated experience leading ATEX compliance programs, Dust Hazard Analyses (DHA), Hazardous Area Classification studies and explosion risk assessments in manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in Process Safety Management systems and methodologies.
- Advanced knowledge in several of the following areas:
• ATEX and Explosion Safety Engineering
• Combustible Dust Hazard Management
• Hazardous Area Classification (ATEX / IECEx)
• Electrostatic Ignition Hazard Assessment
• Explosion Venting, Suppression and Isolation Systems
• Process Safety Management (PSM)
• Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
• Risk Assessment and Risk Quantification
• Functional Safety and SIL
• Loss Prevention Engineering
• Major Accident Hazard Management
• Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis
• Asset Integrity and Reliability
• Process Safety Auditing
- Strong knowledge of applicable regulations and industry standards
- Strong knowledge of applicable regulations and industry standards, including ATEX Directives, Seveso III, IEC/IECEx standards, and recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEPs).
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior leadership and challenge decisions where major process safety risks are not adequately controlled.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists, site leadership, and senior management.
- Strong people leadership and management skills with demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, driving organizational change, mentoring technical professionals, and building a strong process safety culture.
- High level of analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and engineering judgment.
