About this Position

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a full-time Product Development Chemist to join our Product Development team at Henkel Ireland, Tallaght, Dublin 24.

This is an exciting and varied role focused on the development and advancement of LOCTITE adhesive technologies (including anaerobics, cyanoacrylates and acrylates).

The successful candidate will contribute to new product and technology development, raw material qualification to support continuity of supply, and the application of synthetic chemistry expertise to develop and improve our adhesive technologies.

What you´ll do

  • Develop new products, technologies and technical know-how to support the growth of our Machinery Adhesives and/or Instant Adhesives businesses.
  • Plan and carry out laboratory-based development activities, including formulation, raw material evaluation, product testing and adhesive performance assessment.
  • Apply synthetic chemistry expertise to develop new materials and advance adhesive technologies.
  • Lead and coordinate development projects, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery in accordance with required procedures.
  • Analyse and interpret experimental data, draw scientifically sound conclusions and recommend appropriate next steps.
  • Generate and protect intellectual property through patents, publications, technical know-how and innovative technologies.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation of experimental work, project progress and results within Henkel systems.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to project teams and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams, including Sales, Technical Service and Manufacturing, to support customer needs and business objectives.

What makes you a good fit

  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate ideas into practical solutions.
  • Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively to a range of stakeholders, including customers and cross-functional teams.
  • An active and collaborative team player who is equally comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
  • Strong digital skills and confidence using digital tools to support technical work and communication.
  • Willingness to travel as required.   

Additional experience that would be an advantage:

  • Knowledge or practical experience in (meth)acrylate and/or cyanoacrylate chemistry.
  • Synthetic chemistry expertise, particularly in areas such as methacrylate-based oligomer synthesis.
  • Experience creating intellectual property, including patents, invention disclosures, scientific publications or other technical disclosures.
